RPM 521991.06 – Control Unit for Range Shifting, Current Too High

RPM 521991.06 (RPM )

Code: 521991.06

Shortcode:

Description:

This diagnostic trouble code is generated if the overall current strength of solenoid coils is too high. The control unit enters a cooling phase, and gear shifting is not possible until 30 seconds have elapsed. This can also be caused by improper operation of the rear PTO, such as quickly switching back and forth between speed ranges without switching on the rear PTO.

Reaction:

When this error is detected, gear shifting is temporarily disabled until the cooling phase is complete.

Recommendations:

  • Allow Cooling Time:
    • Wait for the cooling phase (30 seconds) to elapse before attempting to shift gears again.
  • Inspect Solenoid Coils:
    • Check the solenoid coils for signs of damage or excessive current draw. Replace any faulty solenoids.
  • Verify Proper PTO Operation:
    • Ensure that the rear PTO is operated correctly. Set the PTO speed to neutral before switching to the desired speed range.
  • Check Wiring and Connections:
    • Inspect the wiring and connections to the solenoid coils for any signs of damage or loose connections. Repair or replace as necessary.
  • Update Control Software:
    • Ensure the control software is up-to-date. Install the latest software updates from the manufacturer to improve performance and current management.

Note:

Proper operation of the rear PTO and regular maintenance of the solenoid coils and wiring can prevent this issue. Following the recommended procedures for gear shifting and PTO operation is crucial.
